I started this as part of my 2019 morning routine. While I’m drinking my apple cider vinegar lemon water, I make my green juice to help start my day. After a few days of starting my day like this, I definitely found myself having more energy and less need for any caffeinated drinks to start my day. The lemon water and green juice start definitely helps to clean out the toxins in your system. So if you’re visiting the restroom more frequently in the morning, don’t be surprised.

What I’ve seen from sourcing recipes and looking at what’s available in the “healthy” section of stores. 

~ It’s always good to check produced and bottled juices and ensure that any fruits juiced or pulped are on the lower end of the ingredients list. 

~ Making you own green juice at home is always going to be better than anything you buy in store. 

~ When making your own green juice, don’t overpack the ingredients and try keep the fruit content down. 

~ Juicing is good but why throw away all that fibre? A good blender will give your body everything you need to properly use all the good stuff in your juice to fuel your body. 

~ A juice is a great way to start your day but will never keep you full till lunchtime. So plan to something to help you to lunch 30-40min after you have your juice. 

This is my green juice recipe

The Big Green

Makes 2 Smoothies

What you'll need

▸ 4 cups Spinach

▸ 1 stalk Celery

▸ 2 cups Water

▸ 125ml Coconut cream (or 1 cup if you have to open a big can of cream) 

▸ 1 banana

▸ 1 apple 

▸ 1 Lemon Juice

Instructions:

Start with your big greens (Spinach and Celery) and water and blend well in your blender

Add the rest

Blend well

Enjoy.

*Juice lemon separately as the seeds create a bitter taste if added to the smoothie mix.

**if you need a little anti-inflammatory in your life, add 1 teaspoon of turmeric in the second stage of the smoothie and you're golden.

***You can swap the coconut cream and water for this mix (2 cups Coconut Water (or do 1 cup coconut water, 1 cup water)) which will help hydrate the body in the morning. Coconut water is a great source of electrolytes

I can highly recommend starting your day like this. It’s also good to mix it up though. But nothing beats the energy levels I have after starting my day like this.
