The MyGait has a stimulator cuff which is worn around the leg just below the knee provides functional electrical stimulation (FES) in order to lift the foot at the right time in the gait cycle. The heel switch worn in the shoe sends a wireless signal to the stimulator around the leg.
The stimulator activates the common peroneal nerve and as a result, the muscles responsible for lifting the foot are activated and the foot is lifted. This results in an improved and more natural gait pattern.
